The essential role of the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank Program Assistant is to oversee the food and clothing bank functions Saturday through Wednesday including: leading volunteers, working with clients, organizing clothing intake donations, cleaning facility and assisting with special events.
Position is primarily in a warehouse like setting and requires the ability to lift items of up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be independent, self-motivated, organized, effective leading diverse large groups and individual volunteers and skilled at interfacing with the public.
Position hours are part time and somewhat flexible, but standard hours will be 9:00 am-1:00 pm Saturday, 1:00pm-5:00pm Sunday, 11:30 am – 7:30 pm Monday, and 8:00 am-3:00 pm Tuesday and Wednesday. The pay rate is $13.50 per/hr, and is benefits eligible. Position is under the day-to-day supervision of the Food Bank Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide assistance in the operation of the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank warehouse, including the food pantry and clothing bank programs. Assistance includes intake and distribution of food and clothing, along with maintenance of physical layout of the space to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, safety and security.
This position will also provide leadership for volunteers and will be available to support staff and volunteers during client opening hours throughout the week and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in the daily operations of IFCB warehouse areas including: A. Supporting the process for intake and distribution of goods and food products. B. Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment. C. Leading teams of volunteers in the completion of their assigned duties D. Providing staff support during client opening hours 2. Assist with staff support during special events 3. Provide substitute staff support when the organization is shorthanded. 4. Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with volunteers and other community organizations. 5. Stay informed in all areas of food safety standards and warehouse safety and security standards. Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate cleanliness, safety and security standards. 6. Act as an ambassador for the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank. 7. Participate in disaster or emergency-related duties, as needed. 8. Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed. 9. Attend training as requested. 10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years of warehouse or team leadership experience required. Experience working in a food pantry or similar operation and experience working with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A. Knowledge of warehouse organization. B. Knowledge of intake and distribution practices and procedures. C. Knowledge of food safety and warehouse operations safety. E. Ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines. F. Ability to supervise and motivate volunteers. G. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion; maintain confidentiality of clients, co-workers and agency. H. Ability to relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels. I. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, donors, volunteers, and coworkers verbally and in writing. J. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. K. Ability to operate and use general office equipment and basic computer knowledge. L. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, work occasional evening and weekend hours, as required. M. Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
