The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation’s most effective environmental action organization. Position Summary:
NRDC seeks a Program Assistant to work in its Santa Monica Office. The Program Assistant will provide administrative and paralegal support to the members of the air quality and environmental justice team of NRDC’s Southern California office. The successful candidate would be responsible for tasks such as: preparing court filings, proofreading legal documents, researching and writing memos, cite-checking, scheduling meetings, processing expenses, and helping to manage budgets and grants.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support in a variety of capacities, including proofreading, maintaining litigation files, coordinating court filings and service, drafting correspondence, formatting documents, scheduling meetings, and photocopying.
Process invoices and complete expense reports.
Research factual matters and court rules.
Manage and monitor program budgets and grants.
Qualifications:
Must have very strong interpersonal skills and be extremely detail oriented.
Previous paralegal experience preferred.
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks.
Must have the ability to work independently, be a self-starter, prioritize multiple projects, and perform well under deadlines.
Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Prior office experience and interest in environmental or social justice issues a plus.
