Position Summary:
NRDC seeks a Program Assistant to work in its Washington, D.C. office located at 1152 15th Street, NW, Suite 300. The Program Assistant will provide administrative support for the Action Fund. The successful candidate must have good communication and problem solving skills and be able to handle administrative tasks such as: management of budgets, contracts and processing expenses, formatting and proofreading documents, coordinating and booking travel, scheduling meetings, coordinating meetings and events, and researching and preparing materials.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate staff schedules and sets up meetings
Coordinate and books travel
Process and track invoices, contracts, grants, and budgets
Coordinate with finance, development, IT and other support departments to ensure smooth running of program work
Copy, scan and distribute documents
Event planning and coordination support
Research and write background information for projects
Manage the team’s page on the organization’s internal site
Manage the Action Fund email lists
Send important emails on behalf of the director
Maintain the protocol for sending emails from the Executive Director and President.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s required
Previous administrative experience a plus
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be detail oriented
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
Must have the ability to work well under pressure
Must possess a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft Access a plus
Must have a demonstrated interest in environmental issues
