School-Based Intake Specialist – Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA – Philadelphia, PA

Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern Pennsylvania (BBBS SEPA), the premier youth mentoring organization in the state, seeks a Temporary School-Based Intake.This position requires 29 hours of work per week, during 9-5 business hours, through November. Travel to and from area colleges and universities is required. March- April and September-November will require this person to be on University campuses conducting interviews Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-6pm. Position assists with “Big” interviews, assessments and references during peak enrollment periods.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Conducts volunteer enrollment including on-site volunteer interviews, child safety education, and all enrollment procedures; be highly proficient at applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures to all aspects of job.

2.Conducts volunteer assessments and updates as indicated, always maintaining accurate records.

3.Reviews all enrollment information and assessments. Makes recommendations for participation in program based on all data, and effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with service options of Agency.

4.Conduct volunteer references by phone and e-mail and thoroughly document references in our agency management system.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Academic: Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in social services, human resources or related field.

Professional:Experience working with child and adult populations, as well as specific assessment, intake or interview experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages required.Must have a car, valid driver’s license, and meet State-required automobile insurance minimums.

Personal Attributes:Must have a customer/client focus, strong interpersonal skills, be results and outcome oriented, approachable and highly organized. Candidate must be a strong judge of character and able to accurately assess people. (S)he should be able to bring a sales/marketing approach to volunteer interaction in order to effectively match individuals with program and clients.
