Role of Job Developer
Our Job Developers cultivate relationships with companies interested in partnering with the JCC Adaptations Job Services program to develop candidate placements. Responsibilities include:
Reaching out to potential employers, often through our JCC network, to develop initial relationships and identify potential positions based on company needs and candidate skills
Matching Adaptations candidates to positions based on skills, strengths, and interests
Collaborating with Adaptations staff team members to coordinate interviews and introductory meetings
Providing on-site training/professional development to managers/teams on creating an inclusive workplace environment
Establishing connections between company supervisors and candidate Job Coaches
Maintaining ongoing, long-term relationships with current and future potential employers.
Role of the Job Coach:
Support clients in transitioning to a new workplace
Liaison between supervisor, co-workers and client
Help client learn his/her job duties according to employer specifications and understand employer policies
Identify strategies to help client perform tasks that are difficult for them to understand/perform
Help navigate interpersonal skills necessary to understand and feel comfortable in a new work environment
Continually assess the vocational, social, communication and independent skills required by the specific job setting
Must be patient, compassionate, creative, positive and friendly and have work experience in at least 3 different settings. We can train someone with these attributes to be a great coach.
The minimum qualification for this position is a bachelor’s degree with several years of professional work experience. Experience working with people with disabilities and/or marketing and sales is a plus.
The ideal candidate will be creative, persistent, and able to approach and develop relationships wuth different people and businesses.
Pay rate is $20/hour plus placement commission – a minimum of 10 hours a week with flexibility
This is a part time position based out of the JCC Manhattan on the upper west side though work does not need to take place at the JCC. Travel throughout Manhattan is necessary to visit and meet with different potential employers.
