COMMUNICATIONS GURU
Zócalo Public Square, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit Ideas Exchange that blends live events and humanities journalism, seeks a Communications Guru with exceptional marketing and writing skills, development experience, and drive.
This newly created position will be responsible for writing radio, print, and web advertising copy; publicizing Zócalo projects to new audiences; liaising with partners at educational, cultural, and philanthropic institutions and public agencies; writing and editing proposals for new business; and helping the organization tell its story across platforms to people and organizations around the country and world.
We are looking for candidates who pride themselves on their persistence and reliability, and who possess the presence, poise, professionalism, and commitment to become a part of a thriving, innovative Los Angeles institution with a fun-loving, tight-knit team.
Last year, Zócalo produced 50 events in 10 cities and published over 700 articles that we syndicated to 185 media outlets—including The Washington Post, USA Today, Time.com, Fortune, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Houston Chronicle.
The Zócalo Communications Guru must commit to long hours, weekend and evening work, and occasional travel.
Interested applicants should send cover letter, resume, and writing sample(s) to jobs@zocalopublicsquare.org. Please include “Communications Guru” in the subject line.
