Deputy Director – Eden I&R Inc – Hayward, CA

Position Description: Eden I&R (Information and Referral) is a 39-year old nonprofit social services agency whose mission is to link people (primarily at-risk populations) with critical human resources and affordable housing in Alameda County. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and products that are accessible to the general public as well as other social service agencies. The Deputy Director reports to, and works closely with, the Executive Director and oversees the agency’s various programs, services and products.

The Deputy Director must be an articulate, organized and creative leader who inspires trust, credibility, enthusiasm and integrity. The Deputy Director will be a strong team player, an excellent communicator, and work well under pressure. Relevant experience should reflect strong management, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.

Duties Include:

• Supervise and evaluate program staff

• Oversee the supervision of the agency’s programs including:

§ 2-1-1 Alameda County Communication System

§ Client Services

§ Outreach and public relations

§ Housing and Roving Resource Programs

§ Assist in the maintenance and development of the housing and services databases, including ongoing updating process and database enhancements

§ Assist in information product development, production and distribution including The Big Blue Book: Directory of Human Services for Alameda County

§ In-Service trainings for staff and volunteers

Ensure all program goals, objectives, and outcomes are met, recommending course corrections when necessary
Interpret and analyze data; compile program statistics
Assist with the agency’s development needs including identifying funding prospects; writing sections of grant proposals; reviewing and editing proposals; working with other staff to determine feasible grant objectives
Determine and track allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment, and assist in program and agency budget development and implementation
Report on progress of the programs to multiple funders and the agency’s Board of Directors both verbally and in a variety of written formats(e.g., online and hard copy)
Represent Eden I&R at community meetings and other special community-based activities that directly impact the agency’s programs and/or information and referral services
Serve as Coordinator for the agency’s participation in the Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) program, including managing a perpetual time survey process for multiple staff members
Respond to funders and other public inquiries regarding the programs
Act as a spokesperson for the agency: make presentations to city councils, community-based organizations, and other groups; attend outreach events and fairs to distribute agency and 2-1-1 marketing materials
Write and edit content for the agency’s website, Facebook and Twitter accounts
Assist with personnel and other HR-related issues
Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

· Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to analyze data

· Outstanding organizational and time management skills

· Excellent problem solving abilities; and ability to handle multiple priorities

· Experience in gathering and organizing information

· Strong computer skills in working with databases, MS Office Suite; familiarity with FileMaker Pro is desirable

·Two years of upper management level experience in a social service environment

·Two years of supervisory experience with a diverse staff & volunteers; ability to manage both up and down

·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human service or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable

·California driver’s license and proof of insurance

Compensation: Annual salary commensurate with experience; benefits
