Development Associate – Women for Afghan Women – Fresh Meadows, NY

Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is a grassroots, human rights organization. Founded in April 2001, we have built programming to secure, protect, and advance Afghan women’s human rights in New York and across Afghanistan.

Mission: WAW is dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and New York, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life: political, social, cultural and economic. We advocate for women’s rights and challenge the norms that underpin gender-based violence wherever opportunities arise to influence attitudes and bring about change.

Vision: WAW is committed to working towards a world in which Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and throughout the world enjoy peace, justice, equality, and the freedoms to participate in all spheres of life and live without fear. WAW envisions a world in which women and their families thrive and prosper.
