Development Director – Asia Initiatives – New York, NY

Asia Initiatives seeks a part-time Development Director to design and implement strategies to engage and solicit support from donors at all levels.

The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) located in New York, with chapters in Japan, Singapore, and Australia. Founded in 2000, the organization aims to promote sustainable development for underserved communities, with a particular focus on women.

AI has worked in close collaboration with the M.S. Swaminathan Foundation and other partners to fund over 200 micro credit banks, establish 40 village knowledge centers and support education and technology initiatives. Its partners include governments, non-profit organizations and corporations. AI has also introduced the concept of Social Capital Credits (SoCCs) to multiply the impact of every development dollar. ROLE

Reporting to and partnering with the Executive Director (ED), the Development Director is responsible for all fundraising and development activities in the organization.

The Development Director must:

Be a fundraising expert with demonstrated ability to raise up to $1 million for 501(c)(3) organizations.
Be responsible for implementing a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances and expanding and diversifying the organization’s donor base.
Forge new relationships to build Asia Initiatives’ visibility and impact in the donor community while improving the organization’s financial resources.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors, corporations and foundations including research, development, engagement and procurement.
Oversee the organization of the annual fundraising gala and special events.
Work with the board of directors and other leadership supporters on their own private giving as well as their efforts to attract, cultivate and solicit new major donors.
Organize and track donations, including checks, cash, Paypal, credit cards. Etc.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred

Significant experience in fundraising and grant writing
Excellent computer skills for data collection (Donor Management software). Salesforce experience a plus.
Demonstrated success in business or non-profit employment, including experience in public communications, organizational advocacy, fundraising and activity planning.

HOURS OF WORK:
This is a part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) that at times will require evening shifts and weekends.
