Development Information Systems / Research Senior Associate – Omega Institute for Holistic Studies – Rhinebeck, NY

Summary

This position is responsible for managing the information systems of a rapidly growing development program, performing duties relating to the general business operations of Omega that require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Responsibilities include planning, reporting, and analysis of the Annual Fund campaign; research and prospect identification programs for new initiatives, projects and campaigns; and other department activities as necessary. As part of the Development team, this position reports to the Development Assistant Director.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibility is for high level data input, querying and analysis, with strategic application of reports in support of, and to help generate, major fundraising for the organization
This role has the authority to negotiate and commit Omega in matters of significant financial impact including major external vendor relationships with database and software firms
This position carries out major assignments conducting the operations of Omega including the preparation and submission of legal compliance measures like Omega’s annual nonprofit state filings
Anticipate and manage information needs and systems; for example utilizing software or systems functional specifications in order to fulfill research, outreach, stewardship, cultivation and solicitation efforts, including progress and benchmark evaluation
Create draft summary reports required for tracking special projects, including donor fundraising and stewardship programs for the Omega Women’s Leadership Center, the Omega Center for Sustainable Living, board reports, new and emerging programs and initiatives, special fundraising appeals, and other fundraising reports as needed
Proactively supervise database analysis and data needs within the department which includes the development, documentation, analysis of, and training on, fundraising information systems and consulting with department members to determine software and system functional applications
This role carries out major assignments conducting the operations of Omega including processing all donations received by Omega, financial and in-kind, for all fundraising campaigns as well as gift entry and mapping to internal data and accounting systems, funder acknowledgment letters for tax purposes and also as a means of Omega’s stewarding a donor relationship, and reports and budget reconciliation within proprietary Omega program database, Raiser’s Edge
Support other donor cultivation and solicitation efforts as needed by the Development Director, Chief External Affairs Officer and Omega Board of Directors including, but not limited to, prospect identification, research, and initial outreach strategies
This position is involved in planning short- and long-term business objectives including contributing to the strategy creation of long-range capacity building and comprehensive fundraising campaign planning
Supervise print and online planning needs and templates for all external donor communication including, but not limited to, data accuracy
Other job responsibilities as deemed necessary by supervisor

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises volunteers as needed periodically for specific projects.

Work Details

This position functions in Omega’s administrative offices on the Omega campus.
Physical Demands – This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Office workers aren’t expected to perform heavy lifting regularly, but they may be expected to lift a box of paper or similar item, which weighs approximately 20 pounds.
This is a full-time position.
The typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This schedule may vary when special needs and projects arise.

5 years experience managing database entry system required
Bachelor’s degree required
Proven track record of managing fundraising information systems
Excellent written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge
Ability to articulate Omega’s vision and program content to a variety of constituencies
Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
In alignment with Omega’s visions, goals and core values

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree
