Diversity-Focused Communications Internship – Physician Assistant Education Association – Washington, DC

Use your critical thinking, research, and writing skills to help us make physician assistant (PA) education more diverse and inclusive.

We’re a medical education association looking to learn about what our members are doing to build a more diverse and inclusive student body and faculty. With better intelligence about this, we can build a comprehensive national diversity and inclusion strategy.

We’re looking for a summer intern who is interested in laying the foundation for that work.
The Work

Here’s what the 10-week internship will include:

Researching accredited PA programs to uncover whether they (or their sponsoring institution) have a diversity statement, and what that diversity statement covers.
Identifying, investigating, and interviewing which PA programs have a plan to put those diversity statements into practice.
Writing articles for our website covering the current state of PA education’s institutional diversity and inclusion activities.

Qualifications

We need someone who can read quickly, write clearly, and ask questions fearlessly. The research will require interviewing some of our members over the phone, so you’ll need to be comfortable having conversations with people you don’t know. Finally, you’ll need to be particularly good at finding and interpreting documents such as university policies and mission statements posted on the Internet.

Benefits

Our offices are located in downtown D.C., and you’ll be working with our staff of communications professionals (writers, editors, designers), so there will be plenty of opportunity to get experience and learn more about both communications and medical education.

The small print: 10 weeks, 20 hours per week, flexible schedule, $2000 all told. Plus experience working for a national association, working to make medicine a more inclusive profession.

Apply

If you’re interested in taking the next step, email a letter of interest and your CV or résumé tocommunications-intern@PAEAonline.org.
