Education Program Manager, Mid-Atlantic / D.C. Metro Area – Common Sense Media – San Francisco, CA

For K-12 educators, we provide comprehensive programs and professional development with the goal of helping students harness the power of digital media for learning and life.

We are currently seeking a full-time position for a Mid-Atlantic/D.C. Metro Area Education Manager to develop and manage strategic outreach collaborations with state and county-wide educational organizations/associations, and key school districts in the Metro DC area (Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia). The primary objective of the Education Manager is to introduce Common Sense Education’s free resources to educators and help them learn how to best guide students (and their families) in harnessing the full potential of technology for learning. The Education Manager will provide professional development to teachers and administrators, pilot new educational resources, and evaluate the impact of programming. The Education Manager will engage with key stakeholder groups, including community based organizations and parent communities. This person will work in Common Sense’s DC office, but will travel throughout the Metro DC area on a regular basis. The position also requires traveling up to twice a year to San Francisco and may also include other opportunities for travel.

WHAT’LL YOU DO

Build partnerships with statewide education organizations/associations and key school districts in the Metro D.C. area to develop strategies to introduce educators throughout these regions to Common Sense Education resources
Facilitate in-person professional development for educators and administrators in the DC Metro area on:
Best practices for the implementation of Common Sense Education resources
How to most effectively integrate technology in schools to enrich and enhance learning
How to foster a strong home-school connection and engage/educate parents about technology and their kids
Work with key school districts in the D.C. Metro area to develop customized implementation plans for Common Sense Education resources
Identify and support select schools in piloting new Common Sense resources
Engage “exemplar” educators and schools in the state, supporting them in becoming Common Sense Certified Educators and Certified Schools (both Digital Citizenship Certified and Graphite Certified)
Evaluate programming through both quantitative and qualitative assessments

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME

Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred, preferably in education or education-related field
5 -10 years relevant experience in coordinating/managing education programs and building collaborations; teaching or working directly with kids a plus
Deep knowledge of education technology
First-hand experience with and knowledge about digital media and learning
Proven knowledge and experience in facilitating professional development/training for adults
Excellent project management, public speaking, verbal and written communication skills
Highly motivated, self-directed, and well-organized
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborations
Collaborative style, entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
A strong desire to bring creative, innovative ideas to the organization
