Job Summary
GLAAD’s Front-End Web Developer and Online Content Manager is responsible for maintaining GLAAD’s website and email production. The Front-End Web Developer and Online Content Manager is a skilled HTML coder and savvy content creator who is excited about making the organization’s web and email communication more effective and engaging.
This position can be based in either the New York or Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities
Maintain, update, and improve GLAAD website and blog, including event promotions and registration, press resources, as well as action alerts and other programmatic content
Develop and maintain the Drupal website, to include: creating and modifying themes as well as expanding functionality
Write and edit compelling content including emails, social media posts, and webpages to engage supporters
Create, schedule and send HTML emails to our supporters
Design and implement test plans, metrics and segmentation for A/B and multivariate split tests for email, and website content
Develop list-building tactics using web, social media, and email communications
Compile statistics, analysis and reports on the performance of online campaigns including email, social and website components.
Work with the Design and Multimedia Manager to develop responsive email templates that maximize engagement
Test and troubleshoot HTML coding errors
Resize/edit images using Photoshop for websites and email
Test websites across browsers to ensure cross-browser functionality
Work with other departments to ensure consistency in branding and style across online platforms
Work with Director of IT to import new email addresses into lists
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced work environment
Support other functions of GLAAD’s across all departments
Regular office hours are 9am-6pm; some evenings and weekends required
Qualifications/Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree, preferably including some computer science coursework
Required: 2+ years of work experience in web development and content creation
Required: Strong writing skills, experience developing content for online advocacy campaigns, familiarity with online tools, tactics and strategies
Required: Demonstrated ability to code HTML with and without an HTML editor; must be able to code HTML using both inline styling (for emails) and CSS (for websites)
Required: Ability to troubleshoot HTML errors and test across platforms
Required: Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Required: Experience with Drupal and/or other web content management systems (CMS) specifically creating and modifying themes.
Required: Experience creating and editing responsive email/e-newsletters using HTML with inline styling
Preferred: Experience with an online CRM such as NationBuilder
Experience with image editing/resizing using Photoshop
Experience with CSS, SCSS and Liquid markup.
PHP/MySQL and/or Javascript experience
Google Analytics and/or Google AdWords experience
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills
Excellent communication and proofreading skills
Experience using Microsoft Office
Experience with donor databases; such as The Raiser’s Edge
Demonstrated commitment to LGBT issues; commitment to GLAAD’s mission, goals and work
Supervision The Front-End Web Developer and Content Manager reports to the Director of Digital; supervisory responsibilities to be determined.
