Grant Writer – Ta’leef Collective – Fremont, CA

Ta’leef Collective provides the space content & companionship necessary for a healthy understanding, embrace and realization of Islam.

The Grant Writer will be a self-motivated professional with responsibility for developing and writing grant proposals to federal, state and private organizations and foundations, and will persuasively communicate Ta’leef’s mission and programs to potential funders. This position is located in Fremont, CA.

Reporting to the Major Gift Officer, the Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with federal, state, private organizations and foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines and will have the following responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Develop Ta’leef’s grants program including writing operating support proposals/reports; coordinating proposal approval process; serving as liaison between Ta’leef and funders; and monitoring all grant-related activity to ensure timely submission of proposals and reports.
Generating proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
Developing and writing grant proposals to federal, state, private organizations and foundations and other grant-making institutions, persuasively communicating the Ta’leef vision, mission and programs to potential funders.
Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with funding organization’s and institution’s contacts and program officers.
Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of funding organizations, institutions and foundation gifts.
Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
Conducting prospect research.
Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meeting deadlines and managing supplemental material required for proposals.
Providing writing support for major donor and individual contribution letters and acknowledgements.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time, non-exempt position, with approximately 20-30 per week.

Travel:

This position does not require extensive travel.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of related experience, including writing grants to federal, state, private organizations, as well as foundations, and contract administration.
