Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will provide full-cycle HR functionality to the Early Childhood Education Department inclusive of Early Learn Centers, Family Day Care, Therapeutic Nursery, and Early Head Start.
Responsibilites:
Identifies, screens, and interviews candidates in a timely manner
Maintains an adequate knowledge of open positions and ensures that qualified candidates are sent to hiring managers to interview weekly.
Networks with Educational Director to understand current needs related to staffing, employee relations, training, and support.
Conducts extensive phone interviews, candidate screenings, reference checks, employment verifications and follow ups.
Data entry and reporting related to metrics for ECE.
Coordinates the new hire process for ECE employees (schedules onboarding appointments, processes paperwork, schedules fingerprint appointments, identities and verifies credentials, creates ID cards, etc.)
Enters new hire information into HRIS in order to store information and process hires onto payroll.
Conducts site visits to provide information, discuss concerns, and to build greater rapport with ECE department.
Oversees all benefits administration related to Early Childhood Education (inclusive of enrollment, opt-out, , 401(k) )
Sends union cards to union representative and order new cards as needed.
Enters any changes in salary, status, hours, into CIRS and ensures records are up to date.
Drafts and completes miscellaneous forms for ECE employees (housing forms, employment verifications, etc)
Actively follows up and audits all employee files to ensure that all are complete and compliant based on state, funder, and agency policy
Works closely with Assistant Director in order to engage in investigations and general complaint proceedings related to ECE employees.
Advises Educational Directors on progressive discipline procedures and how to handle employee incidents.
Attends agency meetings including QI Meetings, ECE Department Meetings.
Trains early childhood education staff on required topics inclusive of CPR/First Aid
Manages Paid Time Off Policies for Early Childhood Education, including resolving discrepancies and utilizing timesheets to review and adjust entries in HRIS system.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required.
1-2 years of HR experience preferred.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and HRIS.
Strong customer services and communication skills.
Must be articulate, professional, competent, and willing to go the extra distance for achievement.
Bilingual Spanish a plus
