Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective primary care services to underserved, low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. SALUD began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront “free clinic,” and with a growing need for health services, in 1992 it became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Today SALUD is a primary health care network with 15 sites and 260 employees. We provide high quality services to patients of all ages. We are seeking an experienced, innovative Information Technology Director to provide strategic leadership and day to day supervision of the Information Technology Department including computer and network hardware, software applications, telephone systems and data telecommunications. The Information Technology Director will oversee the development and implementation of computer networks, technology acquisition and implementation, manage IT and MIS projects, and supervise the IT staff. This is a hands-on position requiring a working knowledge and ability to implement and support hardware and software systems.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the development, implementation and utilization of SALUD’s computer resources and management information systems.
Provides supervision, training, and work evaluations for professional and technical information systems staff.
Develops and implements policies regarding the acquisition and utilization of computer resources. Establishes standards, policies and procedures for IT systems and applications.
Designs, integrates, tests, implements, documents, monitors and evaluates the IT systems of SALUD.
Assesses the agency’s current and future IT needs, establishes IT priorities and develops IT recommendations and budget proposals.
Plans computer acquisitions, upgrades, installation, and maintenance.
Coordinates SALUD computer resources with on-line systems, as necessary.
Performs special statistical and budget analysis for the development of SALUD computer resources and systems.
Reviews and evaluates hardware and software for use by SALUD staff, and directs training programs in the use of computer resources by SALUD management and staff.
Serves as a central information source regarding SALUD management to determine and work towards meeting computer resource and management information needs.
Establishes and enforces computer system and network security standards and policies.
Keeps current on trends and innovations in technology and in EHR science.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with agency staff, vendors and consultants.
Ensures safe work practices.
Uses interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationship with IT staff and all SALUD users.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
Three years or more of IT management experience.
Knowledge of EHR, networking and phone systems analysis.
Knowledge of principles and practices of delivery of IT services including network management, e-mail administration, desktop support, application support, server maintenance and operation, web site design, disaster recovery planning and oversight, and cloud-based services.
Knowledge of management principles and practices including budgeting, project management and staff supervision.
Knowledge of virtual server environment and network infrastructure and principles.
Strong technical writing and editing skills with ability to interpret and package ideas in a clear manner.
Well organized and detail-oriented.
Valid CA driver’s license and current vehicle insurance; must be able to travel between sites.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Experience with non-profit community health centers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds.
