Instructional Designer for Adult Learning Services – Library Foundation of Los Angeles

Scope of Work:

Design, develop, and modify course materials, exercises, assessments, handouts, and related materials in cooperation with library staff.
Utilize variety of training methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practice to ensure maximum effectiveness of programs.
Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, materials, and new technologies.
Train, mentor, observe, and evaluate staff and volunteer instructors.
Develop, measure, and analyze adult learner outcomes.
Teach classes as required, depending on availability of staff and volunteers.
Perform other duties related to the position.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, English, Applied Linguistics, or related field or equivalent education plus experience.
Five years of related experience, preferably teaching ESL to adults.
Learner-focus with the ability to develop targeted materials for educationally, culturally, and linguistically diverse adult learners.
Proven ability to design, develop, and assess successful instructor-led courses.
Demonstrated track record of meeting project timelines with quality results.
Must have superior writing skills related to informational and instructional material.
Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
Ability to collaborate using Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and similar programs.

Preferred:

Experience with multiple instructional models including one-on-one tutoring, classroom instruction, and self-guided learning.
Multilingual speaking skills are highly desirable.
Experience working in an environment with volunteers preferred.
One year of experience supervising teachers preferred.
