The Job Developer will have a direct impact on increasing the number of families who move from impoverishment to self-sufficiency, increased resources and better means of income. The Job Developer will be responsible for outreach to the community to bring in resources to provide skills development as well as for increasing the flow of jobs for the Center’s workers. This full-time position will be 50% in-house and 50% community focused.

Public Outreach

Identify and contact potential employers; work with partner agencies to place workers into trades, services and other job industries; assist in creating multiple entry points for low-income workers to access jobs.

Community Relations

Maintain or rekindle support from past employers, donors and friends of the Center through direct appeal, referrals and direct follow up.

Marketing

Increase visibility and awareness of the Center through various media, such as radio, television and local newspaper advertisements, flyers or pamphlets. Create online presence through Yelp, Google, Facebook, etc.

Skills Development and Assessment

Interview new workers to identify current skills as well as areas for improvement. Assist with daily employer/worker match. Work with Center employees and volunteers in the job creation process by developing on-going assessment methods and tools to guage workers’ job readiness. Identify outside resources and recruit volunteers to provide services in this area.

Requirements:

Must be passionate about social justice for all people.

Must have a valid California Driver’s License.

Must have good oral and written skills in both English and Spanish.

Ability to use various computer programs, spreadsheets, databases,etc.

Some knowledge of California Labor Law is desirable.

Experience in Marketing is a plus.

Willingness to work irregular hours is desirable.
