Middle School Site Supervisor – Camp Fire Columbia Council – Portland, OR

Title: Middle School Site Manager

Description: Working in partnership with Portland Public Schools and “I Have A Dream” in the Reynolds School District, the site manager will implement culturally responsive programming with students identified as “academic priority” to provide them with supports that will lead to increased academic success, attendance, connection to their school, self-confidence, and positive self-identity in one or more of the nine middle school programs located in PPS and RSD Title One schools.

There are positions available in both school districts.

Reports to: Middle School Program Director

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred and/or training/experience equal to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position
Minimum two years of experience working with underrepresented youth 11-14 years of age
Background that indicates a working knowledge of youth development and programming, including best practices in mentoring, academic enrichment, youth adult partnerships, conflict resolution, non-violent communication, and life-skills & leadership development
Bilingual Spanish speaking candidates preferred
A commitment and passion for equity work regarding school communities and the achievement gap
Culturally responsive with a strong understanding and/or willingness to learn about diverse cultures and communities
Belief in the importance of youth having influence within their community, school, and peer group (youth voice)
Belief in the importance of family involvement in the success of youth
Willingness to be flexible regarding time, availability, and operational priorities
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 14 passenger van
Ability to work in teams or independently
Ability to lead and motivate others
Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

Essential Functions:

Implement an after school program for middle-school students (based on growth mindset and service learning curriculum)
Coordinate service learning, field trips, and other experiential-based activities for each site monthly
Coordinate family engagement activities
Participate in recruitment and retention of program participants
Foster strong partnerships with school staff and community partners
Foster strong partnerships with families through home visits and family engagement events
Maintain a balanced budget and complete data collection and documentation
Attend Camp Fire meetings and events
Support the mission, purpose, and leadership of Camp Fire; project a positive image of Camp Fire
Assist Program Director with program and administrative functions
Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Seasonal (school year) position at 40 hours/week. Health and retirement benefits available. Start date September 8th, 2015. Typical weekly schedule: Monday-Thursday 10 am-6pm school site work and Friday 9 am-5 pm for meetings, paperwork, and flex hours. Some evenings and weekends required.

Compensation: $15-$17/hour
