Multiple Development Internship Opportunities Available – Mobility Outreach International – Seattle, WA

Mobility Outreach International, formerly Prosthetics Outreach Foundation, seeks to ensure that children and adults with limb loss or limb deformities in developing countries have access to high-quality orthopedic and physical rehabilitation services so that they can enjoy lifelong independence and mobility. General Development Internship

The primary responsibility is to support functions of the development and communications department. Responsibilities will include procuring auction items, researching prospective donors, preparing and mailing appeals and maintaining our donor database. This is an unpaid position and would be great for someone interested in event planning, non-profit fundraising. The opportunity to take a leadership role on a project is possible depending on experience and hours of availability. This person will directly report to the Director of Development and Communications.

Please note that this position can be a volunteer position if a candidate is not interested in an internship. A minimum of 10 hours a week is required for this position.

Major Gifts Internship

The intern will assist the Director of Development and Communications with implementing an effective Major Giving strategy that includes donor visits, events, and mailings. The intern will learn the process of solicitation, cultivation and stewardship of major donors.

Responsibilities include:

Perform administrative duties such as: filing, donor list preparation, verification and updating of donor information, and assisting in preparing correspondence and mailings
Monitor major donor trends
Assist in preparing for donor visits and presentations
Assist in managing major donor events and attend events when possible

Special Events Internship

Be an event intern and help children and adults with physical disabilities in developing countries! Mobility Outreach International needs interns to help with our 13th annual dinner and auction benefit that will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, WA. Steps to Healing is Mobility Outreach International’s most prominent annual fundraiser. Special Event Interns play a vital role preparing for this event – procuring auction items, designing the auction catalog, choosing décor, assembling auction packages, assisting with the set up and more!

This position requires functional research skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; a cordial and serious telephone manner; a professional and enthusiastic attitude; a high level of organization; good interpersonal skills; writing skills. The Intern/Volunteer should have experience with the following computer applications: Word and Excel, social media, and internet research/search engines.

Grant Writing Internship

Research potential funding sources, write grants, organize grants calendar, and track reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities

Develop and write grant proposals to foundations
Prepare, assemble and submit grant requests
Write Letters of Inquiries
Keep track of personal contact and relationships with foundation program officers
Ensure prompt acknowledgement of foundation gifts
Conduct prospect research
Prioritize projects to keep them moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage required material for proposals
