Our Mission

The mission of Citizens of the World Charter Schools New York (CWC NY) is to provide a socioeconomically, culturally and racially diverse community of students with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each student’s confidence, potential, and individual responsibility as a citizen of the world. We are in our second year of operation, having opened one school in Williamsburg (CSD 14) and one school in Crown Heights (CSD 17). Next year our schools will serve students in grades K-3. This position is in our Williamsburg location.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Associate who is excited to work in a unique charter school environment and embrace the central tenets of our mission – diversity, constructivism and progressive education. The Operations Associate will refine and maintain systems to run major school functions including school records, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, attendance tracking, admissions and school lunch oversight. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, self-starter who is adept at multitasking and problem solving. He or she must also love working in a dynamic environment with diverse children, parents, teachers and staff.

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Principal and Director of Operations with all administrative functions of the school
All routine clerical support for the school office including answering phones, communicating with parents, preparing and filing reports, etc.
Maintaining school and student information data systems including ATS and eSchoolPlus.
Minor first aid and discipline resolution for students in the main office
Supporting distribution, collection, retention and proper submission of wide variety of forms and reports, including applications from prospective students, enrollment forms, personnel forms, attendance, grade and test reports, accidents, budgets, curriculum, special programs, employee time reporting, purchase orders, supply and equipment requisitions, student cum files, personnel files, etc.
Preparing correspondence, reports, bulletins, files, forms and memorandums
Customer service and point person for all visitors, technicians, vendors, plant staff, etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum of an AA degree or two years of college
Minimum of two years experience in a similar position
Excellent communication skills; computer skills including data management; extreme attention to detail; high level of organization and efficiency; ability to multi-task
Initiative to solve problems and follow through to complete each task and project
Written and Oral Spanish language fluency is strongly preferred
