The Sea Change Program is dedicated to transforming the culture of stigma around abortion and other stigmatized reproductive experiences. Through our Untold Stories Project (USP), Sea Change works with organizations and communities to transform the way people listen and share about issues like abortion, adoption, miscarriage, parenthood, and infertility.
In 2014, Sea Change worked with 17 authors to publish an original anthology of non-fiction stories about reproductive experiences titled Untold Stories: Life, Love, and Reproduction. From fall 2014 to spring 2015, we recruited over 65 reading groups of more than 400 people across the US to host discussions of the book. After conducting a thorough process, outcomes, and insights evaluation, we found that 48% of people who participated shared a personal reproductive experience of their own, and almost all of them felt supported by their group in doing so. In the next year, we will expand the impact of the Untold Stories Project by working closely with organizations and individuals across the country.
We are seeking an Outreach Manager to lead the Untold Stories Project in outreach, recruitment, and engagement. Initial duties will include designing and executing a recruitment plan for the Untold Stories Project, managing participation in the Untold Stories Project, and building relationships with reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations that seek to reduce reproductive stigma and create culture change.
