Programming Volunteership – Mediators Beyond Borders International

DESCRIPTION
CitizenDEMOS is a voluntary initiative primarily focused on the health and sustainability of democracies in the US and internationally. Our mission is to cultivate and nurture the values, character, and minds vital to develop a culture of democracy. We organize ourselves according to our professional and peer groups such as Citizen Mediators, Citizen Social Workers, Citizen Engineers, Citizen Teachers Citizen Elders or Citizen Homemakers.

Citizen Mediators brings together mediators, dialogue facilitators, restorative justice practitioners, and other conflict resolution professionals who feel compelled to leverage their unique tools, skills, and sensibilities to strengthen democratic societies and bridge the divides existing within society.

Position Summary: Collaborate with CitizenDEMOS director to conduct research on issues of democracy and civic engagement; support with the design and the implementation of training programs; and co-facilitate, with the possibility of leading, training programs in Washington D.C., New York, and Boston.

Responsibilities:
Conduct research on issues of democracy and civic engagement
Support with the design and implementation of various programs
Design and analyze feedback surveys to develop the training programs
Co-facilitate and possibly lead training programs
Expand and manage partnerships with experts and organizations in relevant fields

Qualifications:
Experience conducting research
Experience conducting training or lectures
Knowledge and experience with dialogues and mediation
Excellent skills in managing senior volunteer professionals
Strong verbal and writing skills
Proficiency in MS Office Applications
Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred:
Pursuing or completed a graduate degree in conflict resolution, international affairs, public policy, political science, sociology, history, or a related field strongly preferred
Familiarity with graphic design applications

This is a part-time, voluntary position based in washington D.C. (20 hours/week). A minimum of 16 hours/week is required.
