Position Title: Site Coordinator
Position Status: Exempt, .885 FTE (40hrs/wk for 46 weeks, 6 weeks off in the summer). Some evening and weekend work required.
Location: Chief Sealth High School
Reports to: Program Director
Benefits: Full medical and dental, 403(b) plan. Paid vacation, sick and holiday time.
Pay Range: $36,816 — $42,340 annual salary. Commensurate with experience.

Position Summary:

The Site Coordinator (SC) marshals resources necessary to address the social and emotional needs of students who are at risk of dropping out of school. Through the coordination of individual and group interventions, as well as prevention activities, the SC is a key player in helping students toward graduation. The SC provides confidential, developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive interventions, services and support to students needing additional internal and external resources in order to make a positive connection to school. The SC forms partnerships with the community and other agencies to help provide these resources. The school-based interventions will improve academic achievement and reduce truancy for the students served. Responsibilities may change based on the needs of the program.

Responsibilities Include:

School-based Services: 75% of time

• Overall program management of the assigned Communities In Schools of Seattle (CIS of Seattle) site: Coordinate implementation of the annual school support plan in partnership with the site. Ensure that needs assessment, service delivery, data tracking, and evaluation/reporting takes place.

• Secure community support and partners to meet school and students’ needs: Successfully build relationships with community members and service providers for identified program needs. Identify and incorporate various community resources that best meet the needs of the school site and its students.

• Coordinate linkages to needed academic, physical or social services to children in need: Provide overall scheduling and coordination of volunteer/student activities. Maintain regular contact with collaborating agencies. Serve as a communication conduit for gathering/exchanging information.

• Intervention and referrals for at-risk youth: Assess students’ social and emotional needs. Provide and/or coordinate individual and group intervention for teens affected by substance abuse, mental or physical health concerns, pregnancy or parenting, gangs, domestic violence, homelessness, as well as youth involved in foster care or with juvenile courts. Connect students with Seattle Public School resources or other community-based resources, as appropriate. Coordinate prevention activities. In collaboration with school staff, monitor Student Learning Plans for targeted students.

• Connections to college, career opportunities, internships: Create a link with the community to provide job shadowing, career exploration, and post-secondary opportunities.

• Other duties: Supervise volunteers. Support and participate in school orientations, open houses, and parent events. Serve as a resource to the whole school and consult with staff. Follow procedures for referral processes, assess student needs and strengths related to social, emotional and behavioral issues, connect to parents. Adhere to procedures regarding communication and coordination with teachers, administrative and referring staff including confidentiality. Maintain effective relationships with students, their families, school staff and administration. Other duties as assigned.

Evaluation and Documentation: 10% of time

• Document progress and track student and family outcomes in areas targeted by the Student Learning Plan, in addition to tracking attendance, discipline and achievement data.
• Ensure accurate documentation.
• Track outputs and outcomes to meet grants and other CIS of Seattle grant reporting requirements.
• Produce CIS of Seattle quarterly and annual reports.
• Provide program information and overview of accomplishments to the Executive Director, CIS of Seattle board, and District personnel as appropriate.

General Administrative Tasks: 15% of time

• Consult with school administrators, parents and staff as requested or appropriate to the work with students.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings with school staff, the CIS of Seattle team, and other resource agencies involved in collaborative services.
• Conduct outreach and develop partnerships with other agency service providers.
• Participate in CIS of Seattle planning and program evaluation.
• Represent CIS of Seattle at events and meetings, as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with all CIS of Seattle staff to maintain a positive CIS of Seattle image; Understand and demonstrate the CIS of Seattle mission, goals and initiatives within the community.

Required Qualifications:

• AA degree with five plus years’ experience working with teens or young adults, Bachelor’s degree with three years’ experience working with teens or young adults, or Master’s degree with one year of experience, or equivalent.
• Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills, particularly with at-risk youth.
• Commitment to social justice.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools, students, parents, community representatives and the general public.
• Excellent facilitation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Flexibility, collaborative spirit.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Valid Washington state driver’s license, access to reliable transportation and proof of adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs on an occasional basis.
• Commitment to helping young people stay in school and prepare for life.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in education, social services, counseling, juvenile justice, or anti-poverty.
• Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, economic status, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
• Comfort and competency in a multi-cultural environment.
• Training in grief counseling with adolescents.
• Ability to speak in a language in addition to English, especially Spanish and/or Somali.
• Advanced CPR/First Aid Training.
