Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to provide residents of public housing neighborhoods the tools and resources needed to achieve economic mobility and self-sufficiency, and to break cycles of poverty. Urban Upbound advances its mission through five integrated programs: employment services, financial counseling, youth development/college and career access, and the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union.
Urban Upbound is currently seeking a Part Time WFD Computer Lab Monitor to provide clients with job search support to include assistance with online job applications, updating resumes and cover letters, provide technical support to clients during computer lab hours. The expectation is that the Computer Lab Monitor will provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities include:
Support clients through the job search process and ensure they understand their ability/challenges in meeting the job requirements with a goal in matching them to the right job.
Assist clients with completing job applications, teach online job searching techniques, provide 1:1 assistance with online job searches, and answer questions about computer applications, job search engines and postings.
Identify employment, training and resource information opportunities and update information on resource board in Computer Lab.
Maintain open communication with Career Counselors on the status of client activity within Computer Lab.
Provide weekly report status of clients usage within and assistance provided in lab.
Help active job seekers create a professional email address, email resumes/cover letters to specific job leads.
Manage sign-in sheets and job seekers’ folders to ensure accurate recording of job seekers’ attendance in the computer lab.
Responsible for updating computer lab spreadsheets and entering required information in Efforts To Outcomes (RV) database.
Ensure job seekers are adhering to policies and procedure and monitoring completion of job log.
Collaborate with Career Counselors about any noticeable changes in jobseeker’s mood, attitude and appearance.
Relay any important information disclosed by job seekers to their assigned Career Counselor.
Basic administrative duties such as filing, printing resumes/job related documents, faxing resumes/job related materials and photocopying.
Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in Workforce Development.
Excellent Customer Services Skills.
Knowledgeable of interviewing skills and resume development.
Must be comfortable with public speaking and able to work with diverse groups of people
Ability to work with clients facing a multitude of barriers to employment.
Excellent time-management skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and find effective solutions before escalating technical problems to management.
Strong computer skills.
Honest, reliable and a quick learner.
Must be able to work 10am-2pm Monday- Friday.
Salary : $15.00 per hour/25 hours per week
