Position Overview
The Youth & Family Programs Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight, development, marketing and direction of all SAF Youth Programs under the supervision of the Executive Director. The Youth & Family Programs Manager manages the youth and family programs and volunteers who plan and implement all Youth Programs (workshops, after-school programs, tours.) This person will act as an accessible and professional public representative for SAF and is responsible for management and coordination of curriculum development and program details for all Youth & Family Programs.
This position requires some non-traditional work hours and will include some evening and weekends. Currently, this position is part-time, paid hourly and averages 20-25 hours a week.
About SAF Youth & Family Programs
SAF works year-round with more than 550 families and youth of all ages to inspire a lifelong connection to the design of Seattle and its neighborhoods. Our programs are educational, interactive and hands-on, offering opportunities for youth of any level of interest or knowledge in design to participate. Current SAF youth & family programs include:
School-based after-school classes in Seattle Public Middle Schools
Fall and Spring Saturday Teen Design Workshops for middle and early high school youth (monthly)
Saturday Family Design Workshops at the Center (Monthly)
School tours and occasional workshops
Summer Camp and other programs with community partners
Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Basic knowledge and/or appreciation of architecture and design
Experience working with and managing teams of volunteers
Experience coordinating and implementing programs for school-aged youth
Comfortable with MS Word, Excel and social media platforms
Must work well collaboratively with a team as well as independently
Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years relevant experience teaching or working with youth
Experience with marketing, grant writing, graphic design and previous non-profit experience a plus!
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the development, marketing, coordination, expansion and evaluation of all new and ongoing Youth Programs
Work with Youth Program Committee to plan & evaluate programming, oversee budget and fulfill other Youth Program goals
Recruit, train, manage, acknowledge and assess the needs of youth program volunteers
Develop and maintain partnerships with schools and other community partners
Manage all Youth & Family Program workshops, after-school programs and associated events
Facilitate workshops and classes, as needed
Assist with grants, marketing and fundraising materials as needed
Collaborate on volunteer recruitment and retention, training, evaluation, continuing education, social events and awards (including Annual Volunteer Open House and school-based events)
Attend meetings related to program development and volunteer engagement
