4th Grade Teacher, After School Program – Gargiulo Education Center, Inc – Naples, FL

The Gargiulo Education Center develops educated and confident students within the Naples migrant community by providing academic programming that complements the public school curriculum, as well as a variety of enriching out-of-school content and activities.

GARGIULO EDUCATION CENTER TEACHER

Under the direction of the executive director, the role of the teacher is to safeguard the health and safety of all pupils while facilitating a comfortable learning and growing environment during the afterschool hours.

This position is an 8 hour per week position from Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-5:30pm. The after school program schedule follows the CCPS academic calendar schedule. We are currently looking for experienced and passionate individuals to fill our fourth grade teaching position.

Program management:

Respect confidentiality of Gargiulo Education Center student, families, and staff.
Participate in regular cleaning of materials and classroom spaces.
Use pre-program time to plan activities to supplement CCPS curriculum.
Check email at least 2 times each week and respond to requests in a timely manner.

Classroom management:

Establish classroom routines and procedures, and ensure a culturally inclusive environment.
Maintain classroom discipline for the benefit of student safety and learning.
Actively supervise activities of students in the classroom and during outdoor activities.
Record daily attendance to ensure student safety and implementation of grant funding requirements.

Volunteer management:

Work with Executive Director to determine and prioritize volunteer assistance needs.
Provide regular volunteers with direction and support in delivering one-on-one attention to students.

Individual instruction:

Assist pupils to achieve academically by overseeing successful completion of homework assignments.
Develop and implement achievement plans in order to help students remain on/reach grade level.
Facilitate additional practice activities when students finish homework assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current teaching certification with the State of Florida.
Passion for working with at-risk youth.
Preferred experience working with the Florida Mexican migrant community.
Preferred bilingual, Spanish and English.
