PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, Program Specialist, or Program Director, or Branch Director
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided in within a specific program area, such as Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Prepare Youth for Success
1. Coordinate all components of STEM lab for after school/summer program.
2. Deliver FUN educational programming in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to underserved youth.
3. Implement Jaime Escalante “Seeding STEM” curriculum and other STEM programming.
4. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: _ promote and stimulate program participation; _ plan and administer curriculum; _ register new members and participate in their club orientation process; _ provide guidance and role modeling to members; _ teach technology through project based learning.
Program Development and Implementation
5. Effectively implement and administer Club Tech programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
6. Develop project based learning activities which help youth become comfortable and proficient at using various forms of technology, conducting science projects, engineering projects, and math tasks.
7. Implement curriculum including, Skills Tech, Net Safety, Photography, RoboTech, ClayTech, Career Launch, STEM Adventure as well as homework assistance/tutoring, other technology based curriculum.
8. Plan a calendar of technology projects teaching youth to become “tech savy.”
9. Teach entrepreneurial skills by starting a youth run E-Bay store to raise funds for the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club and/or Social Media newsletter to promote events and activities at the Club.
10. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports
11. Other duties as needed.
Supervision
12. Ensure a productive learning and work environment.
13. Provide safe learning environment and monitor student behavior.
14. Participate in weekly staff meetings.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must participate in special programs and/or events.
2. Required to drive Club van to pick up youth from school.
3. Occasional weekend field trips or activities may be required periodically.
4. Assist members with homework daily, supervise youth during snack and other transition periods.
5. Assist with other departments and other duties as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
-High School diploma and some college required.
-Studying science or related STEM field or experience implementing programs to teach STEM.
-Experience in working with children.
-Knowledge of youth development.
-Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues in a positive non-punitive manner.
-Ability to deal with the general public.
-Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
-Ability to organize and supervise members to ensure a safe environment.
-Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
-Valid CA State Drivers License.
-Clean DMV Record.
-Background clearance and LiveScan fingerprinting.
