Therapeutic Afterschool Program: Group Leader/Community Educator
AIP’s (Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention) ASPIRE After School Program is hiring Community Educators/Group Leaders for our therapeutic after school program at the Frederick Pilot Middle School in Dorchester.
ASPIRE has been designated an Exemplary Plus Program by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the only Exemplary Plus Program in Boston. ASPIRE serves 52 “at-risk” low-income middle school students who are referred by their teachers and school social workers to receive additional support academically, emotionally and socially.
Responsibilities:
Community Educators are responsible for:
leading daily Homework Groups for 13 students
observing and assisting in classrooms
maintaining regular communication with the students’ teachers and family members
creating and leading fun enrichment activities that connect to the school curriculum
assisting with special events
Mentor ASPIRE students and inspire them to meet their potential and achieve academic success
Schedule:
Community Educators will work Monday through Thursday, 2:00 to 6:45 PM Monday – Thursday through June 11th, in accordance with the Boston Public School calendar.
Requirements:
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of one year of college education and at least one year of youth work experience.
Candidates must have excellent verbal and written skills and a proven commitment to working with young people.
