Summary of Position

The associate teacher works with the classroom teacher in a collaborative manner. In this role, the associate teacher is provided with hands-on experiences in teaching, curriculum planning, classroom management, service learning and community-building.

Requirements

College degree or enrollment in a college program

•Experience working with children

•Energy and the desire to learn and explore with teachers and children

•Awareness of progressive education philosophy and methodology

Duties

Assist the Lead teacher with planning, teaching, and assessing students

•Assist with the preparation and/or organization of teaching materials

•Collaborate with lead teachers and associate teachers

•Supervise students at recess, lunch, and carpool

Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers

Participate in Baker staff training sessions and professional growth opportunities; share with colleagues

•Adhere to all Baker faculty policies and procedures
