Please forward a cover letter and your resume to connect@wholesomegeneration.org to express your interest.
K-1 requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education preferred, with a minimum of 1 year classroom experience as a lead teacher in a Pre-K, K or early Elementary grade environment OR commensurate experience in lieu of education degree.
Must have demonstrated skills in the following areas:
-Planning interdisciplinary units of study using project-based curriculum that inspires children to investigate and research.
-Using a variety of authentic assessment tools and methodologies (rather than tests and homework) to measure student learning and drive instruction.
-Developing and using student portfolios of work to tailor and differentiate curriculum to individual students across several grade levels, and determining small groupings and modifications for peer-to-peer support and encouragement.
-Supporting active children, and children with varied learning styles and needs.
-Communicating with parents regularly, openly, and professionally.
-Participating in outdoor exploration regardless of the weather (our classrooms all connect to the outdoors and our students often ask to study in nature).
– We will offer spanish/english in all K+ classrooms starting in the fall. Bilingual (spanish/english) a must.
Experience with early child development theories and approaches such as those in Reggio Emilia, Italy, the Project Approach or Tools of the Mind is strongly preferred. Teachers with responsive classroom, Montessori, and STEAM experience are also encouraged to apply, as we are STEAM focused in this setting.
In our program we use a variety of learning tools and curricula in our primary classroom, so candidates must also have appreciation for nature and being outdoors in all weather and understanding of the need for children to get muddy, dirty and wet. Children experience culinary arts and healthy eating daily, so a understanding of making healthy lifestyle choices is a must.
