RYSE Center Overview: The RYSE Youth Center supports the development of young people (13-21) through a holistic approach that engages participants in programs and services grounded in the principles of youth leadership and social justice. RYSE contributes to the health and economic vitality of youth and their communities by reducing violence and increasing youth participation and leadership in civic activities, improving mental health, increasing educational attainment and expanding career options for youth and cultivating critical and creative voices to support in reflecting and expressing their own experiences and experiences of their peers.

Overview of Program Area: The Education and Career Department offers programs, activities and services that help youth be college and career ready. Using a trauma informed and healing approach, we promote high school graduation, and college and career readiness by offering basic academic and employment services, as well as career development and training in digital arts and technology in order to ensure youth have the opportunities to obtain post secondary education, success and financial stability to pursue meaningful careers.

Specifically we assist youth in: 1) successfully graduating from high school 2) increasing access to and preparation for college and post secondary education; and 3) obtain work-based tech career training and experience.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision and support of the Education and Career Director, the Career Pathways Coordinator will work on the development and implementation of the Career Pathways Program. Major duties include: management/implementation of programs, facilitation of workshops, curriculum development and oversight, cultivating relationships with local organizations/businesses, and case management.

Job tasks for Career Pathways include but are not limited to the following:

Career Development
Oversee launch and execution of day-to-day programs, including assistance in programs and social entrepreneurship. Specifically,
assist in design of, launching and managing tech and digital based learning
support design of new tech programs for general members and follow up programs for youth (more advanced workshops based on interests of youth)
support implementation of programs, including logistics
manage and deepen partner relationships
With support of Director, develop curriculum for and lead career specific soft skills development workshops.
Career Case Management for members to set career goals and action steps to reach goals.
Work Based Supports/Placements
Offsite Support: Assist with the development of offsite opportunities for youth in program to gain work based experiences in area of trainings.
Assist in cultivating relationships with local organization and companies in digital arts fields (Video, Tech, Music production) to support with placements and opportunities for youth (internships, fellowships, job shadows, employment, etc.).
Assist youth with applications and preparation for interviews and developing portfolios.
Work with youth in identifying further education and training opportunities
Coordination of Programs: Work with program partners to deliver other Education and Career programs.

Qualifications include:

Previous teaching or workshop facilitation experience required;
Experience working with young people 13-21, in a fast-paced multicultural youth environment;
Must be willing and able to work evenings and some weekends as required by special RYSE programming and events;
Demonstrated cultural 
competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status;
Passion for social justice and working for educational equity for youth of color;

Ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with web marketing and design tools in a tech or media company, agency or entrepreneurial environment;
Experience developing curriculum;
Enthusiasm and comfort for using social media and tech tools;
Experience building and maintaining relationships and partnerships with community organizations and local small business and corporations;
Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and 
manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. Annual salary of $32,000 – $38,000, DOE, payable semi-monthly. The position is exempt from overtime pay.
