Chief Executive Officer – Holy Family Ministries – Chicago, IL

Position Summary

Reporting to the Board of Directors (Board), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the executive leadership of all functions of the organization.

In support of HFM’s mission, the role of the CEO is to strategically grow HFM’s programs and diverse revenue streams, guide the management of the organization’s programs, oversee the financial and business health of the organization, facilitate resource development and lead and foster a positive team environment.

The CEO firmly believes and “lives” the HFM mission.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the executive leader of Holy Family Ministries ensuring the fulfillment of the mission.
Possess a genuine passion and drive for the mission and serve as a faith-based leader with integrity and positivity.
Lead the implementation of a growth-focused strategic plan, in partnership with the Board and management team.
Build and develop relationships with strategic alliances, industry contacts, and service providers.
Represent the organization to the public and foster a good relationship and image for HFM within the organization and to clients, supporters, and the general public.
Participate in and report key strategic and program metrics at Board meetings, ensure Board initiatives are acted upon and implemented and assist with Board development
Manage a team of high-performing, mission-driven leaders.
Develop organization-wide systems for measuring mission impacts and report internally and externally.
Ability to interface and engage diverse donor groups, students and families.

Oversee the business model and financial health of the organization.
Ensure the development and implementation of sustainable business models for present and future programs and business ventures that support the overall goals of HFM.
Oversee the CFO and ensure the development and execution of accurate financial statements and tools that enable strategic decisions.
Manage the annual budget process and work with the program leaders and finance team to draft a sound operating budget.
Maintain positive cash flow and establish sufficient cash operating reserves.
Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of metrics to the Board on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
Execute contracts, deeds, mortgages, bonds and other instruments authorized by the Board.

Facilitate fund development by cultivating and supporting key strategic relationships and advancement work.
Cultivate strong relationships with donors and participate in the development and execution of an annual development and communications plan.
Oversee the CDO and facilitate the fund development program by creating partnerships and networking outside the immediate Holy Family Ministries community.
Represent the organization at various fund raising and networking events.

Strategically guide instructional and extra-curricular programs to ensure that student achievement is maximized.
Oversee the HFS Principal and Director of Little Learners Academy and demonstrate knowledge of effective research-based practices to facilitate the implementation of programs aimed at maximizing student achievement.
Oversee the Director of Adventures in Learning After School Program to foster an environment of cultural enrichment for students.
Foster communication and collaboration among faculty, staff, parents, volunteers and students to support school goals.
Encourage participation from all stakeholders in school programs and activities.
Ensure the implementation of the standards and benchmarks, curriculum and assessments is in a manner consistent with HFM’s mission statement.

Lead and foster a positive and cooperative team environment.
Create a work environment that fosters teamwork, personal growth, self-confidence, and success.
Inspire and empower direct reports to develop their leadership capacity and to cultivate leadership across the organization.
Participate in hiring and evaluations for direct reports; provide ongoing support and feedback regarding job performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

BA required; Master’s degree in relevant area preferred
10+ years of organizational management experience, preferably in a mission-based operation
Demonstrated ability to lead an enterprise operation and manage a dynamic team
Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; demonstrated ability to create and execute a cohesive strategic plan
Demonstrated ability to identify and procure resources for projects.
Education experience, preferably in a mission-based or urban environment
Proven financial acumen and experience with managing budgets, forecasting, guiding and achieving financial results
Strong people skills, including demonstrated supervisory, mentoring, and team-building experience
Strong project management and time management skills; highly organized and detail-oriented
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
