Creative Connections is currently seeking excellent College Readiness Success Coaches for the 2016-2017 school year in Staten Island. Best candidates are outgoing, adaptive and commanding facilitators who are familiar with the culture of Staten Island public schools and able to collaborate with core content teachers.
Creative Connections was founded in 2005 to meet the growing need for college and career readiness in New York City public schools. We promote student aspirations and success through our innovative Connections Programs, where students discover possibilities beyond their classrooms and neighborhoods, and acquire skills that equip them for success in higher education and in life. Simply put, we connect students to the exciting world of possibilities.
We are also looking for elementary school coaches.
Job Description:
We provide proven-effective curricula for our programs. Coaches must be comfortable adapting lessons to meet students’ needs and have the skills and experience to make activities fun and interactive. Student engagement is a must. Success Coaches are responsible for implementation and administration of the program, classroom management and special projects, liaising with school staff, and consistent communication with Creative Connections management. We seek individuals with an excellent work ethic, committed to professional growth.
Job Description
Facilitates College Connections program curriculum during the school day to high school students 2-4 days a week.
Meets with cooperating classroom teacher in planning sessions.
Maintains clear and accurate records of student attendance in each class.
Communicates with school personnel including teachers, principals, and school support staff as required.
Attends special functions (i.e., assemblies, parent teacher night) as requested.
Participates in staff development training, as requested.
Attends and participates in staff meetings as scheduled.
Upholds the professional standards of the organization throughout the school community.
Requirements:
Candidates should possess either extensive working knowledge of the college admissions process.
Must have experience teaching or facilitating experience with high school students, preferably in the New York City public school system.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Can commit to mandatory paid training in early September.
Can commit to working through June 2017, no exceptions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills; enthusiastic and collaborative.
Strong administrative skills, detail-oriented, effective time-management.
Sensitive to the needs and challenges facing the students we serve.
Willing to travel on Staten Island.
Bilingual a plus.
Half-day (3 hours) rate starts at $125/day
Full-day (6 hours) rate starts at $225/day
