Cultural Teacher – El Centro de la Raza – Seattle, WA

POSITION SUMMARY

Support the planning and teaching of the After-School Program Curriculum. Direct supervision of students and maintains an orderly, clean, and educational classroom. Assists the After School Coordinator on projects and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Helps in the planning and implementation of cultural activities.
Directs supervision and teaching of students and instruction.
Responsible for the implementation of positive guidance and discipline policies.
Helps in the implementation of the individual learning plan of each child in his/her group.
Plans activities and helps students with individual plans as to special needs students.
Provides on-going positive parental communication.
Helps in the implementation of the outcomes and of Spanish and English as methods of teaching.
Provides transportation to children as needed.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Essential minimum skills, education, and experience:

AA Degree or equivalent experience and training.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows.
Desire to work with youth under 12 years of age.
Requires a Washington State Driver’s License and proof of insurability.
Familiarity with the Latino community and/or diverse communities.
Ability to lead the work of volunteers.

Additional Preferences and Responsibilities:

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

Works full-time in a general office environment during the summer and part-time during the school year. Requires a flexible schedule. May work different hours on different days. May require some local travel.
