Development Associate – New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education – Newark, NJ

Organization The New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) is a Newark-based nonprofit dedicated to the inclusion of children with disabilities in schools and communities. It is our mission to ensure students with disabilities are able to access general education classes with the supports and modifications neccessary to help them succeed. NJCIE works with parents and schools to provide information and training into why and how to include students with disabilities.

Primary Objectives:

To organize and administer two major events each year in collaboration with the CEO, staff, and Board.

To expand our current efforts and build a comprehensive fundraising program in conjunction with the CEO and Board that can sustain the ongoing programs and operations of a our organization.

Key Responsibilities for Development Associate:

Collaborate with CEO and Board on the organization and administration of the annual Holiday Fundraising event
Collaborate with CEO and other staff on the organization and administration of the annual Summer Inclusion Conference
Collaborate with the CEO and Director of Parent Engagement on our social media plans
Create a comprehensive development calendar inclusive of major special events, grants and reports, campaign milestones, and membership and annual fund mailings, among other tasks
Develop and utilize our donor tracking database (Salesforce®) for managing donor coordination and tracking efforts
Coordinate Board fundraising activities and solicitations
Oversee creation of comprehensive corporate giving and sponsorship program
Conceive of and execute new and effective fundraising events
Create, execute, and manage annual solicitation mailings, in collaboration with other staff and Board of Directors, for Annual Appeal mailing and other donor correspondence
Collaborate on grant applications, in coordination with CEO and volunteers

Must haves:

College Degree and 3-5 years of experience in development
Event planning experience
Tech savvy and experience building nonprofit exposure and brand on social media
Ability to work independently and with a team
Sense of humor
Success recruiting donors

Would be nice:

Knowledge of students with disabilities
Knowledge of NJ disability laws

This is a new position in the organization. We are seeking someone who has experience and wants the opportunity to begin to build something from the ground up in a financially stable organization. An outgoing personality is extremely helpful in this position as you will be reaching out to current and new donors.
