The Urban School of San Francisco seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented and energetic Development Associate to: manage the Development Department’s database and gift processing; support the annual Auction, special events and Alumni Relations; assist the Parent Board; and help with various activities and programs. The Development Associate is a full-time, non-exempt position, and reports to the Director of Development. Specific responsibilities include the following:
Database (70%)
Enter and update all constituent information in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
Process, acknowledge and file all gifts and pledges in an accurate and timely manner.
Generate pledge reminders.
Produce exports and mail merges for all fundraising campaigns and special events.
Generate queries, reports and donor lists for Development on an ongoing basis, as well as weekly and monthly reports for the Business Office; reconcile donations with Business Office on an ongoing basis.
Auction, Alumni Relations & Special Events (20%)
Provide support to the Assistant Director of Development/Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Leadership Giving to organize and implement the annual Auction and all special events, including alumni reunions and events.
Manage various logistics and communications for all events.
Parent Board & Volunteers (5%)
Act as Development liaison to the Parent Board; coordinate, motivate and recognize volunteers; assist with logistics of Parent Board and committee meetings and efforts.
Provide support to Parent Board events such as Auction, All-School Picnic, Grad Night and parent class potlucks and meetings; coordinate volunteers as needed.
Oversee ordering and stocking of UrbanWear store.
Send communications on behalf of Parent Board and committees.
Communications (5%)
Work in conjunction with Webmaster to create RSVP forms and webpages, and send email notifications via FinalSite.
Other
Work with school personnel to order supplies and maintain equipment for office.
Organize and provide support for meetings, such as room reservations and hospitality.
Provide general assistance to the Director of Development, Assistant Director of Development/Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Leadership Giving, and participate in other Development Office and school-wide activities as requested.
Assist when needed with school phone coverage and reception.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of relevant office experience required; familiarity with educational institutions preferred.
Database management experience required, preferably with Raiser’s Edge.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Event planning experience preferred.
Familiarity with FinalSite a plus.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and judgment; high level of professionalism.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize, plan and follow through on tasks.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple tasks on time.
Proven ability to work well within a team and independently.
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of clerical responsibilities.
Discretion in handling confidential information.
Act as a partner within Development team, demonstrating a collaborative nature and collective ownership of overall team goals and objectives.
Special Requirements
Some nights and weekends required.
Ability to type and sit for long periods; ability to listen and transcribe notes.
Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
Valid California Driver’s License.

The Development Associate is a full-time, non-exempt, twelve-month position. Salary will be competitive based upon experience and qualifications.
