About the Jamestown Community Center

The mission of the Jamestown Community Center is to mobilize the resources of families, neighborhood residents, and other community members to help young people realize their full potential as empowered and productive members of society. Jamestown fulfills this mission by annually providing over 1,000 low-income Mission District youth with a full range of educational enrichment, academic support, leadership training, employment, sports, and guidance programs. Throughout these programs, Jamestown aims to provide all participants with the highest-quality youth development experience. This approach builds young people’s resiliency as they face their daily challenges and supports their natural inclination to pursue their own growth into healthy, productive young adults.

Unlike many organizations that serve large numbers of youth through short-term programs, Jamestown’s strategy is to serve a core group of neighborhood youth with multiple, high-impact programs year after year as they grow. This focus on depth and longevity has created a bond between Jamestown and the youth and families it serves. As a result, Jamestown is able to remain continuously responsive to new and emerging needs of young people in the community, and to strengthen and expand its programs accordingly.
