The SEED School of Maryland is looking for a Director of Admissions

SUMMARY

The director of admissions is charged with performing duties and directing activities that result in prospective students learning about SEED and completing their applications for enrollment.

The Director of Admissions will develop and manage the full program for student admissions, including outreach and communication to families and prospective students, all aspects of the application, selection and enrollment process, and ongoing enrollment management and administration. This is a critical role for a SEED School because the Director of Admissions will be representing SEED to our most important constituents: students and their families.

This challenge requires a person who inspires trust and confidence, someone who has served the community and who is welcomed and welcoming as a support and guide for families interested in this unique opportunity of a public boarding school. The Director of Admissions will work closely with a core senior leadership team including the head of school, director of academics, managing director, director of development and director of student life.

The Director of Admissions reports to the Head of School.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Program Development

Working with colleagues, the SEED Blueprint and other SEED admissions directors, develop the admissions program and process from point of outreach and inquiry through enrollment

Develop and codify policy regarding applications, eligibility and enrollment which are consistent with SEED’s mission and state regulation, and which are sustainable and clear for the community

Develop student application and all informational materials

Manage and oversee all admissions processes

Maintain complete and up-to-date data on application progress

Manage the enrollment count, verification and audit

Develop student and parent orientation program

Establish protocols for all admission events

Develop parent support and community relations initiatives in partnership with other SEED school staff.

Maintain and establish partnerships with elementary school/organizations

Work in cooperation with the school leadership team to ensure that students are well served and to lead smooth operation of the overall program of the school

Develop an annual budget in cooperation with the Head of School and Managing Director, which accommodates the priorities of the admissions program

Allocate resources while maintaining a balanced budget

Outreach and Marketing

Serve as a representative of SEED conducting outreach across the community, city, county and parts of the state, seeking the right relationships and organizations, which can refer eligible students to SEED. Meet with community leaders, school counselors, and other contacts throughout the targeted counties.

Develop all admissions materials, presentations, and related publications in collaboration with SEED Foundation Communications Director.

Manage admissions portion of the school website

Coordinate admissions publicity efforts

Communicate updates and SEED news via the school’s website and facebook page

Prepare and manage advertising and publicity related to student recruitment.

Respond to and support individual student and family inquiries and questions.

Program Administration

Prepare annual admissions calendar and execute all steps from outreach through to enrollment.

Prepare mailings and other materials for dissemination

Ensure consistent, transparent and quality application process, eligibility screening and compliance reporting related to all admissions and enrollment

Create and maintain application-tracking database

Collect, monitor, analyze and act on data related to student applications, admissions, enrollment and retention

Prepare compliance and other reports for regulatory requirements related to admissions and enrollment, including enrollment audits, Title I, and Free and Reduced Meals programs

Manage admissions waitlist and new student orientation during the school year

Host campus visits by prospective students

Respond to admission inquiries

Manage all events related to student recruitment including tours, information sessions, lottery, parent and student orientation, and home visits

Work with academic program to ensure collection of all required data for students’ permanent files as well as the appropriate dissemination of any document or information within those files

Manage student enrollment list including new students and departing students

Communicate and collaborate, as appropriate, with admissions directors from other SEED schools and with SEED Foundation marketing, communication and evaluation staff

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.

QUALIIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree with 2-5 year admissions office experience is preferred

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced independent school admissions professional, preferably with prior boarding school experience.
