Argosy Collegiate, a grades 6-12, public, charter school, was founded in February, 2014 and opened its doors in August, 2014. Our mission is to prepare our scholars with the academic foundation and character skills necessary for success in college, career, and life. We are planning for year two of a seven year growth plan to close the achievement gap in Fall River. We make no excuses for underachievement and we do whatever it takes to meet the needs of all scholars.

The Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) will be responsible for providing instructional leadership to teachers and support staff to ensure the ultimate academic success of the school. The DCI is responsible for overseeing and evaluating teachers and reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Commit to the mission and vision of Argosy Collegiate.
Review and provide feedback on scope and sequence, support the development of rigorous daily lesson plans and materials that align to MA Curriculum Frameworks & Common Core Standards and that push scholars toward achieving mastery of content and skills.
Review and provide feedback on end-of-year and end-of-trimester assessments utilizing backwards design principles.
Utilize data to drive instruction, plan for supports and interventions, and improve instruction.
Ensure that we are providing varied and differentiated instruction to meet scholars where they are and to challenge and motivate them to reach their potential.
Communicate frequently with school leadership, special education, and ELL staff to ensure that all scholars’ needs are met.
Mediate and manage conflicting demands of the teaching and support staff.

Desired Skills and Characteristics:

Teaching and coaching experience preferred in an urban or charter school setting with proven track record for closing the achievement gap.
Ability to think and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial setting.
Ability to think critically, problem-solve, backwards plan, analyze and use data, and prioritize the needs of scholars.
Collaborative team player – communicative, reflective, strong work ethic, sense of humor, receptive to feedback, growth mindset, data-driven, supportive, and relentlessly optimistic.
Systems oriented and yet flexible and responsive to the needs of scholars and the organization.
Highly effective organization and oral and written communication skills.
Exceptionally professional and respectful with all stakeholders.
BA/BS in education or content area (required) and Master’s Degree in education or related field (preferred).
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a strong plus.
Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the U.S. required.
