The Fair Trade Federation is a membership association of fair trade businesses. We are part of the global fair trade movement, creating opportunities to alleviate poverty through sustainable trading partnerships.
A Director of Member Education and Events is needed as part of our small team. The ideal candidate will be able to plan as well as execute the Far Trade Federation’s member education programs.
Responsibilities Include:
Research, develop, and implement comprehensive educational programs to help fair trade business grow. These programs may include online trainings as well as in-person classes.
Plan speakers and programs for the Fair Trade Federation annual conference, ensuring that the conference includes the most relevant content for all business types. Direct on-site operations for the conference, including site management and logistics.
Coordinate peer mentoring programs for fair trade business leaders.
Host peer networking events that allow fair trade businesses to connect with each other.
Support recruitment efforts by speaking eloquently to the benefits and value of FTF membership.
Other duties as needed. We are a collaborative office where everyone pitches in! Travel is required, primarily in the US and Canada.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have some combination of the following:
Experience in a peer education role, such as mentoring, curriculum planning, and/or small business development;
Demonstrated attention to detail, especially in an event planning capacity;
Past engagement with a fair trade organization and/or related ethical/social enterprise;
Practical knowledge and experience in managing a small business;
Eagerness to engage actively and energetically with fair trade businesses and allies;
Passion for fair trade and a strong commitment to the Federation’s values.
