Director of Resident Services – Wesley Housing Development Corporation – Alexandria, VA

Wesley Housing Development Corporation’s resident services program provides a range of on-site services at its affordable housing developments.Programs and services focus on four primary areas: housing stability, financial management, education, and community building. Resident Services creates a comprehensive stability network as well as new opportunities for personal growth and improved livelihoods. The Director of Resident Services has overall strategic and operational responsibility for resident services lines including Family Programs, Supportive Services, and Third-Party Services. This position develops and implements programs, policies and procedures, directs, manages, and trains staff, develops and monitors program budgets, and participates in fundraising. The Director of Resident Services has considerable independence for carrying out policy decisions and department goals under general supervision of the President/CEO. Exempt Position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Structures, leads, coaches, develops, and retains high-performance management team.
Provides effective and inspiring leadership by developing a broad and deep knowledge of all programs.
Identifies best practices and improves internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
Collaborates with CEO and Resource Development Department to research and solicit funding from government, corporate, and private foundation sources.
Performs annual employee evaluations to assure the adherence to Wesley Housing’s policies and procedures.
Maintains a strong sense of teamwork throughout the department offering activities including regular staff meetings, group discussions and staff retreats;
Produces monthly progress report for Wesley Housing’s Board of Directors.
Establishes and maintains strategic alliances and working relationships with community-based organizations, social services agencies, institutions of higher learning, and other stakeholders; and prepares, manages and monitors Memorandums of Understanding with service partners.
Fosters relationships with institutions of higher learning and provides supervision to Bachelors and Masters Level Social Work Interns.
Develops policies and procedures for service delivery and ensures adherence to these policies.
Oversees input and collection of program data through Family Metrics; monitors program performance and outcomes to ensure program goals are achieved; analyzes and utilizes outcome data as the basis for continuous program improvement; and ensures compliance of resident services in accordance with the needs of residents, regulatory agreements, and areas of focus identified by Wesley Housing.
Monitors grant contracts to ensure adherence to stated goals and objectives and sound financial management.
Maintains confidentiality regarding privileged administrative and resident information in a professional manner; ensure all levels of service delivery adhere to Wesley Housing’s confidentiality standards.
Participates in county, regional, state and national meetings and efforts related to resident services.
Represents Wesley Housing to the professional and governmental agencies and organizations involved with human/social services and resident services for families.
Ensures the proper staffing of Wesley Agape House and Wesley-ASI Boards of Directors.
Provides emotional support to Services and Site staffs in times of resident crisis, illness, or death; provides psychosocial education and expertise to staff.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless resident services.
Other duties as assigned by the President/CEO and/or designee.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Education, Counseling, or related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years in a senior management position in a social services or housing organization.
Five years of experience providing direct social services or community programs.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing, with groups and individuals from a diversity of backgrounds.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of community services and the ability to create and sustain effective partnerships with community organizations.
Ability to supervise, keep and maintain records and create accurate reports.
Proven success in Federal and foundation grant writing and grants management.
Deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management.
Track record in roles requiring superior results, inspiring respect and maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
Knowledge of problem solving and conflict resolution techniques that would be necessary in handling crisis and emergencies.
Proven success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities.
