Director Of Science / Stewardship – Stony Brook Millstone Watershed Association – Pennington, NJ

The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, a dynamic and multifaceted non-profit conservation organization, is seeking an energetic and experienced professional to advance our clean water mission as the organization’s Director of Science and Stewardship. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful environmental conservation and community outreach and have outstanding verbal and written communications skills.

The Director of Science and Stewardship will be responsible for directing and implementing the organization’s science and land stewardship programs. The director will manage a team of staff-scientists, volunteers and outside contractors to:

Promote and support environmental awareness and stewardship;
Investigate water quality and habitat concerns in our region and develop and implement strategies to address those concerns;
Conduct a continuous water quality monitoring program and synthesize and disseminate the collected data;
Oversee the operations of the Watershed Center’s laboratory and GIS lab;
Oversee habitat conservation, research and management on the 930-acre Watershed Reserve;
Develop and communicate accurate and credible information to policy-makers, the media, allied organizations, Watershed members, and the general public;
Engage Watershed members and the general public in conducting citizen science;
Increase the visibility of the Watershed Association and its programs.

Advanced degree in aquatic ecology, biology, hydrology, environmental science or related degree and at least five years of experience with water quality issues is required.

The Director of Science and Stewardship reports to the Executive Director and Deputy Director and works collaboratively with the directors of our advocacy and education programs. The Watershed Association is headquartered in the LEED-Platinum Watershed Center for Environmental Advocacy, Science and Education on the 930-acre Watershed Reserve in Hopewell Township, NJ. E.O.E.
