Early Childhood Music Teacher
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Part-time (hourly)
$36-$40 per 45-minute class
Paid training at $25/hr
Classes are on Saturday mornings and weekday afternoons.
Spring Semester courses begins February 5th
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music is hiring early childhood music teachers for our:
Early Childhood Family Program (mommy and me class), which follows an original curriculum. Specifically looking for Saturday morning instructors.
Group piano class for kindergarten and first grade children, which has a curriculum that is designed by the instructor with guidance from the Managing Director. Specifically looking for Tuesday and Thursday afternoon instructors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance or Education and/or extensive experience in music education with a focus on early childhood; experience teaching early childhood music; Proficient piano skills and piano teaching experience if interested in the group piano position.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Successful experience working in an early childhood and/or family music setting. (Children age 6 and under)
Musthave experience teaching either large or small groups in order to be considered.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
High degree of comfort with contemporary musical styles and genres, including non-Western music.
Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children, families, and the Conservatory.
Experience working with persons from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
