Early Childhood Teaching Positions – Friendship Children’s Center – Washington, DC

FULL TIME POSITION(S):

Infant Assistant Teacher

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care and education of infants ages 3 months to 24 months.

Working as a part of a 2 to 3-person team; the Assistant Teacher will maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment for students, advance students physical and intellectual growth, support social and emotional development, and provide positive guidance and discipline under the Creative Curriculum and the Friendship Children’s Center’s mission. Within these learning and growth experiences, the Assistant Teacher will be a part of providing an environment in which children are respected and encouraged to grow.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assume shared responsibility for implementing the daily lesson plans, assisting in classroom management, and providing direction and guidance in this play based learning environment.
Provide full supervision of children and maintains ratios at all times.
Keep attendance records.
Support and understands the vision, mission and values of the Friendship Children’s Center.
Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment.
Follow school and state licensing standards.
Stay current with early child development through professional development.
Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Four-Year Degree in Early Childhood or a related field
Minimum of Infant/Toddler CDA credential or a related degree required
Experience working in an Infant/Toddler/Pre-school environment preferred
Compliance with all state education and licensing standards, required
Creative Curriculum experience preferred. Candidate must be mature, dependable, energetic, and enjoy working with children

PART TIME POSITION(S):
Infant, Toddler and Preschool Teachers Aides

Our part-time teachers aides work closely with the full-time staff to manage the classroom and meet the developmental and safety needs of the children in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the school, under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum and in all aspects of the daily management of the program, including compliance with the safety and health standards established by the government of the District of Columbia.

2. Foster each child’s self-confidence, learning, and growth. Nurture and encourage children through positive communication.

3. Maintain health compliance in accordance with licensing standards and employee policies, including ability to interact fully with all students, lifting, holding, and attending to them as needed at all times.

Prior experience or familiarity with the Creative Curriculum and CPR/First Aid Certification a plus.

Additional Salary Information: This is a paid part-time teaching position. Hourly Salary is based on credentials. Position is up to 25 hours a week.
