Position Summary:
The ESL instructor will facilitate English Language instruction for 15 to 25 students. The ESL instructor will also be responsible for capturing the initial assessments, mid-term assessments as well as final assessments. The instructor will also document rich lesson plans and curriculum to ensure that the participants are given the best opportunities to show academic progress.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructors:
Create engaging instructional strategies and lesson plans in accordance with standards and best practices.
Provide instruction in the English Language using relevant topics and material and engaging small group instruction as well as one-on-one tutoring.
Evaluate student progress using standardized assessment tools and administer pre-and post-tests according to schedule.
Integrate technology into instructional strategies.
Adapt teaching style and strategies to maximize student learning and retention.
Monitor attendance and student progress using online database.
Qualifications:
Some College Credits required (minimum of 60 credits).
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field preferred or 5 – 10 years ESL teaching experience.
TESOL degree strongly preferred.
Experience working with students of varied ages, levels, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of Best Plus testing procedures, and requirements.
Strong background in youth development and an assets-driven perspective on how to educate English as a Second Language learners.
Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum.
Proficient in basic computer applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point)
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
