Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Instruction and Support
Program Administration
Teach math, science, social studies, and language arts subjects with integrated writing to prepare learners to pass the GED.
Teach courses on computer literacy, keyboarding, and online navigation to prepare learners to efficiently navigate on computer hardware/software.
Develop and submit weekly lesson plans.
Provide ongoing assessment of individual student progress and adapt curriculum and lesson plans according to the needs of the students.
Administer CASAS pre and post testing.
Collect goal information.
Ensure accurate collection of attendance, e.g., contact hours and enrollment status, attendance sign-in sheets.
Record, report and give recommendations on student progress, including goals.
Work with program staff in preparing for program session, including registration and intake.
Be available to meet weekly with academic team to discuss student performance and program operations.
Performance Compliance:
Partner with program staff to lead the production of best practices to support youth interests and advise staff on key outcomes of the program.
Participate in the development of assessments of programs to promote healthy living for homeless youth and establish and sustain professional networks with academia, the non-profit community, and other subject matter experts to enhance programs.
Participate in special projects, meetings, activities, community service events in support of the Youthbuild program.
Assist in community outreach, recruitment and follow on activities and provide documentation and maintenance of participant files in compliance with program procedures.
Prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Bachelor degree required
Significant experience working with disconnected youth.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task.
Strong computer skills, including Excel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong cultural competency skills, including excellent ability to communicate with a diverse population.
Expert knowledge of issues of homelessness sufficient to sustain program requirements.
Knowledge of workforce development best practices, strategies, procedures, and marketing techniques.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement training workshops for young adults and staff.
Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people and knowledge of human service, health, court, and criminal justice system programs, regulations and procedures, and alternative programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge and Skills Desired:
Masters Degree or teacher certification strongly preferred.
