Honors Policy Associate
Common Sense, (https://www.commonsensemedia.org/), a children’s advocacy and leading independent nonprofit organization devoted to helping kids and families thrive in a world of media and technology, is now hiring for an Honors Policy Associate position in its Washington, D.C. office.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a savvy recent college graduate and talented team player to join a thriving group of professionals with a passion for what they do. This role will require a resourceful self-starter loaded with initiative and enthusiasm and superior writing and computer skills, as well as the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. The successful candidate will be skilled at communicating with a wide range of professionals, staying organized, and helping the team achieve its goals.
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Assist the vice president for national policy and other D.C.-based senior staff
Promote Common Sense’s mission and values both internally and externally
Prepare correspondence, memos, PowerPoint presentations, and collateral materials
Conduct research, compile data and background information on a variety of policy, technology, education, and privacy issues
Coordinate and develop support materials for speaking engagements and public events
Serve as the primary point of contact for external requests to the DC office
Monitor and update project timelines and contact databases
Work on special projects and other duties as assigned
Coordinate the D.C. internship program
Various administrative tasks: including setting up meetings and conference calls, making travel arrangements, and preparing expense reports
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME:
A 4-year degree awarded within the past two years with a GPA of at least 3.5 and a record of exceptional academic and personal achievement
Excellent writing skills
Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
A track record of taking ownership of work and looking for ways to improve processes
The ability to explore opportunities that add value to the organization
Rock star proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
Strong Internet research skills.
