Job description
Mission Statement: Growing Up Green Charter School empowers children to be conscious, contributing members of their community through a rigorous curriculum and an engaging green culture. Administrative Responsibilities:
Coordinate all aspects of special education programming, including mandated academic support and related services, ensuring compliance with all student IEPs.
Coordinate with the local Committee on Special Education (CSE) representatives in order to schedule and facilitate all IEP review meetings and ensure appropriate services for students.
Ensure that all special education records are maintained and that timelines for initial evaluations, reevaluations, and annual reviews are met.
Manage and collaborate with related service providers in order to create service schedules, encourage collaboration with classroom teachers and families, and ensure that students are receiving the appropriate amount of support.
Develop and write comprehensive and meaningful IEPs and SMART goals in collaboration with classroom teachers and service providers.
Ensure that student IEP goals are monitored quarterly by related service providers and/or classroom teachers.
Conduct regular student and classroom observations in order to ensure all student needs are adequately met.
Coordinate appropriate testing accommodations for mandated students.
Lead regular RTI-based meetings in order to develop student support plans, which include targeted goals and specific strategies for differentiation.
Create and lead professional development workshops for school staff relating to various special education topics.
Encourage family involvement in the special education process by maintaining frequent, positive, and open communication.
Demonstrate commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students.
Report weekly to the Director of Support Services in order to discuss special education needs within the school and student population.

Instructional Responsibilities:
Provide small-group academic support in literacy and math for students in Grades K-2, both mandated or at-risk as needed in order to accommodate the caseload.
Provide specialized learning opportunities and home resources for Pre-K students identified at-risk.
Complete weekly lesson plans containing teaching points that align to student IEP goals.
Closely monitor and support student IEP goals through regular assessment, including use of teacher-made assessments and observational data.
Maintain detailed and organized documentation of student progress, including family progress reports to be distributed during conferences.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and provide support in order to design modified instruction, materials, or strategies that best meet individual student needs.

Strong commitment to Growing Up Green Charter School’s mission and green theme
Strong commitment to a multi-sensory teaching approach
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers
Knowledge of Responsive Classroom
Experience in environmental education a plus
Experience with technology integration
Excellent organizational skills

Education
Master’s Degree required
Teaching Certificate in Students with Disability required
At least three years experience teaching students in the elementary school grades
Required Certificates & Licenses: Teaching certificate, NYC DOE/Fingerprinting & Background Clearance
