Instructor — (Job#: 15-11) OC – Braille Institute of America Inc – Anaheim, CA

Braille Institute of America, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate blindness and severe sight loss as a barrier to the fulfillment of life. Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps people regain and maintain their independence through five regional centers (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Orange County, Rancho Mirage, and San Diego) and through more than 135 community outreach programs.

We currently are seeking an Instructor at our Orange County Regional Center in Anaheim. Reporting to the Educational Programs Manager, this position is responsible for:

Developing and teaching skills in the management of food, cooking, clothing, home management, grooming and safety;
Teaching training workshops for professionals;
Cross-training in all core classes, in-home and teach as assigned;
Supervising Interns and Volunteers;
Maintaining on-going case notes, lesson notes, evaluations and progress notes;
Developing and implementing new assignments and curriculum that will enhance and improve clients’ independence.

Minimum Requirements:

Effective communication skills;
Demonstrated flexibility and versatility;
Ability to evaluate and determine skill level;
Ability to teach blind and visually impaired students, computer literate;
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
